Pumpkin Experiment
Our pumpkin experiment was not the success we had hoped for. One Day 1 we cut the top off and added soil and water and placed the pumpkin near the window to get the sun. We eagerly awaited for it to sprout and our classroom 'scientists' made certain that we documented any changes. Unfortunately, the only changes that happened was that it started to grow mould and began to attract fruit flies. By Day 8 it was beginning to smell bad and get soft and spongy. We took a poll and most students thought that the pumpkin would rot before it sprouted. On Day 13 (see photo), we accepted defeat before it had a chance to sprout because the pumpkin was getting to be stinky, squishy and gooey to touch.
